i don’t know about you people, but i had my love lockdown on full blast this valentine’s day. after my original date situation fell thru (which was actually much to my relief in the name of all things forced and obligatory), i decided to forego any last minute attempt to organize any other plans involving a date; and i straight kicked it with my best friend and a mutual friend of ours named mary jane. the three of us had a fantastic time watching first role models, then pineapple express, snacking on the v-day chocolates i picked up on my way all the while. now i truly feel like my holiday couldn’t have been better, and it’s all because i had my love locked down instead of doing my hair and makeup and galavanting around town with my now excommunicated ex-boyfriend. and even though i did buy a heart shaped box of candy, in comparison to most new yorkers i hardly contributed to the consumer bonanza that takes place every year. because after all- DOWN WITH THE MAN! ummmm… unless you need me to spin your corporate event, in which case- VIVA LA MAN! err…vive le man? something like that. in honor of my act of defiance i recorded a full version of a mash up i’ve been spinning for quite some time. i call it “i wear my love lockdown at night,” and you should be able to download it HERE. when/if tim, my web guy, ever gets back from vacation we will add it to the site for streaming and downloading.
haven’t gotten to blog much over the past few days because it’s fashion week in new york, and i’ve been out around town observing these amazing people we call fashionistas. or as kelly cutrone would say, “fashion bitches.” that includes men. it’s a fashion week to remember if not for any other reason than the death of famed designer alexander mcqueen, something i believe was as equally tragic as it was calculated. the man just viewed the world differently, which is more than obvious in his work. he also viewed death differently, and a man like alexander mcqueen doesn’t just die peacefully in his sleep. oh no. being conventional was in no way part of his repertoire, something i feel he wanted to take all the way to the grave. is suicide the answer to all your problems? absolutely not. but i don’t think he looked at suicide the way most people do. he’s quoted saying that it’s romantic, and that life is cyclical and we should accept that. not saying this theory makes it any less devastating, but surely there is solace in believing it didn’t all just boil down to the matter of a deeply sorrowed man reaching his breaking point. he holds a special place in fashion history, and his legacy will live on forever through the fashion, art, music, and culture he inspired throughout his life.
today’s hot mess of the day is my apartment. luckily maid-pro should be here in about an hour to save the day, well, more like week, so i’m off to clear some of the clutter. had to keep it brief this time, but can promise i will go IN on hot messes in the future as there is never any shortage of them.

It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
